Process Plant Operator Traineeship Intake - Gladstone QLD

Programmed in partnership with Santos, are offering traineeships to commence in February 2027. This could be your chance to start an exciting and rewarding career in Process Plant Operations.

This traineeship is designed to provide you with a comprehensive practical and theoretical training base that enables you to develop the necessary hydrocarbon skills to work in the oil and gas industry. This traineeship also focuses on developing your safety which is high priority in this work environment.

Tasks

Throughout the traineeship, you will learn how to monitor and maintain production processes by using sophisticated computerised control equipment to perform the following tasks:

  • Controlling production processes and product quality
  • Operating equipment and controlling flows
  • Dealing with production upsets and equipment malfunctions
  • Operating valves, pumps and equipment
  • Monitoring flows, temperatures and pressures
  • Taking hydrocarbon samples and checking levels
  • Analysing samples
  • Performing product tests and analysis
  • Assist in the ship tie-up and loading processes
  • Assisting planning of equipment maintenance and plant shutdown
  • Administering permit to work
  • Emergency response training
  • Analysing hydrocarbon samples
  • Identifying any possible production problems

Duration and training requirements

This traineeship has a 24-month nominal term. Your theory training will take place at Central Queensland University in Gladstone.

Qualification

On successful completion of your traineeship, you will possess Certificate III in Process Plant Operations.

Prerequisites

In order to be considered a potential candidate for a Process traineeship with Programmed, you will have:

  • Completed secondary schooling to a year 12 level or hold a trade certificate or tertiary qualifications.
  • A current ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment medical and attend regular drug and alcohol screens
  • You will possess a genuine interest and motivation to pursue a career as a Process Technician in the oil and gas Industry.
